Q: Why should we use your company?
A: The tangible value of using our company lies in our extensive experience with college/financial planning. We have successfully worked with over 1,150 families to provide guidance, save time, and prevent frustration through the complex planning process. The results have been matching ideal colleges to students while minimizing personal financial resources to pay for higher education.
We at College Planning Specialists are extremely knowledgeable of hundreds of public and private colleges across the nation, including their academic strengths, financial aid statistics, and social environment. Coupling this information with your student’s unique academic/career ambitions and personal preferences, we can match them with the ideal college and help plan their high school education to increase probability of admission.
We will help you minimize personal expenses for college through pragmatic financial planning and by tapping all available financial aid resources. We continually invest countless hours to gain a thorough understanding of the most current laws, regulations, and policies that affect college admissions and financial planning. These include, but are not limited to, The Higher Education Reauthorization Act, regulations of the Department of Education, policies of individual colleges, financial aid resources, and tax laws.
Q: Can’t we do this by ourselves?
A: Getting into college is doable without consulting. However, academic and financial planning for college is a time consuming and emotionally burdening process. Also, mistakes can end up costing thousands of dollars. Capitalizing on our tens of thousands of man hours in this field will simplify this process and help ensure that the most intelligent, informed, and cost-saving decisions are made every step along the way.
Q: Can’t the schools’ counselors help me with this?
A: In 2007, the counselor-to-student ratio in California was 1:966, which ranks as worst in the nation. If your high school is lucky enough to have a college counselor, he/she is most likely servicing hundreds of college bound students alone. Overworked and denied of the necessary financial resources to provide the proper guidance, these counselors simply cannot provide the personalized attention that each student deserves, nor the in-depth education to truly enlighten all the ins and outs of academic and financial planning. We at College Planning Specialists aim to fill the counseling gap and provide students and parents with unwavering support to establish and fulfill all academic and financial goals.
Q: What if my student doesn’t know what they want to do or doesn’t know where they want to go? Wouldn’t it be a waste of time for the service?
A: No, this is the exact reason to hire us. We offer what most students aren’t getting from their public or private high schools – personalized attention and advice that is custom tailored to each student’s unique situation. Our service includes private meetings with your student in order to execute a college search, career profile, and complete discussion of how to pick the career of their dreams. We diligently work with your student in order to empower them with academic and career direction. We pride ourselves on keeping your student motivated and organized throughout the entire planning/application process.
Q: Can’t I put this off? My student is still in high school, isn’t it too early to enroll in your services now?
A: Procrastinating on academic and financial planning will prove very detrimental. First off, the earlier a student works with us to determine an academic path, the more time he/she has to achieve in that path. Academic achievement will open doors to more college opportunities, as well as more opportunities for scholarships and financial aid. Second, it is never too early to save for your student’s college education. Every day missed in the execution of a well-thought out financial plan results in tangible dollars lost. Finally, we at College Planning Specialists are dedicated to top quality services and customer service. In order to provide this, however, we limit our annual clients to roughly 100 in order to provide the in-depth attention that each deserves.

Had it not been for your encouragement and direction, we would have never thought attending a private institution was financially possible, and I would have never applied to USF.
